What's Going in the Fall Care Package

Survived drop off and settled back into the empty nest rhythms.  Now as the weather starts to cool, regular season football is almost here and care package season has kicked off.   This is what's actually going in my kid's box this fll: the things we use, the things that made a real difference, and a little bit of nonsense mixed in on purpose.

Immunity Gummies

Fall at college is basically a science experiment in shared air and irregular sleep, so immunity support is the one I include every year. Airborne is the one we have trusted and still keep stocked — a daily gummy, no thinking required. I recently added Grüns into the rotation too; I take the green one myself and honestly feel a difference, so a bag went straight into the box right alongside the Airborne.

Laundry Day

Laundry was the one skill I made sure got covered before drop-off, and these two are why. We used this stain and odor spray religiously through years of competitive sports — honestly, nothing else has ever come close, and it's still the first thing I reach for. Then there's Glamour Wash, which we use on all our sheets and towels at home; it makes the bed feel like a  luxury-hotel, and sending a bottle along tucks a little bit of home into a college bed.

The Lap Desk

Dorm desks are small and dorm beds get used for everything, so a lap desk earns its keep fast — homework, laptop, or just something to watch before lights out. This one's an easy, comfortable option that works anywhere in the room, still deciding if it becomes a permanent yearly pick, but it's going in this falls box.

A Little Fun (and a Reminder to Call Home)

Independence is exciting, but that first semester back can be a lot all at once, so I always slip in something just for fun. The Naked Roommate has been a go-to college gift for years — equal parts funny and genuinely useful, the kind of book that makes them laugh and quietly prepares them at the same time. And this little sign is exactly what it sounds like: a reminder, half joke and half not, to call your mother between all the excitement.
